The Seattle-based sports apparel giant Nordstrom is teaming up with Nike Training Center to create a new training program that will include a Nike Training Gym and apparel line.
The Seattle-headquartered company is creating the Nike Training Academy, which will debut in 2019 and offer more than 3,500 training sessions to students at schools throughout Washington.
Nike Training Centers will offer programs including the Nike Academy and Nike Bootcamp.
The company said in a statement that it is “working closely with Nike to deliver a more effective and sustainable way to train athletes.”
“Nike Training Academy is a unique collaboration that will allow us to offer more effective, more innovative, and more affordable training opportunities to students and families in the state of Washington,” the company said.
Nike’s announcement comes less than a week after the Seattle-area school district, the Seattle Public Schools, said it was considering allowing teachers to carry concealed guns in classrooms, a move that prompted parents to complain to the school board.
The school board ultimately backed away from the proposal and decided not to enact a concealed-carry law in the district.
