By Sam Williams and Alex Wong/Getty Images for ESPN The National Football League Network (NFLN) has released a new poll showing that “basketball fans are far more likely than football fan to see NFL teams in their area”.
“Basketball is the sport that sports fans want the most, and we see that football fans are much more likely [to] see us [than] other sports fans,” said NFLN Chief Marketing Officer Josh Smith.
“Bengals fans have been the most vocal about their support for our team, and our fans have proven to be much more vocal about the fans in their region.
They have been loud and clear about wanting our team in Cincinnati, and they want it to be the team in their own city.”
In total, 73% of NFL fans said they would be willing to support a team in a given city if that team was represented by a team of African American, Asian American, Latino, Native American, Middle Eastern American, Pacific Islander, and Native Hawaiian American players.
“It is our hope that these stats will encourage our fans to continue supporting the Cincinnati Bengals,” Smith said.
“We want our fans in Cincinnati to have a great experience when they watch our team on TV.
It is our belief that if we all support the Bengals, they will be a strong supporter of our team.”
