The Florida Wine Club, which had been in business since 1974, will close, its owners said Tuesday.
The club has been in Palm Beach County for two decades and serves more than 8,000 members.
The decision comes as the county struggles with a sharp drop in the number of people who pay for membership.
In the last fiscal year, the number dropped by nearly a quarter, from nearly 3,000 to 2,100.
The wine club is one of two in Florida, along with the Palm Beach International Airport, that have closed.
The club’s owners said they were also closing its Palm Beach chapter, which was based in the city.
“We are extremely disappointed to close the Palm beach Wine Club chapter.
We believe this is the right time to make this change,” the club said in a statement.
In the meantime, members will be able to buy wine through a new website that was launched in September.
They will also be able shop online for merchandise, and online store owners will offer discounted prices.
According to the club, it had about 11,000 annual members.
“We are a very loyal and loyal group of patrons and a great place for our guests to get together,” the statement said.
